What is a spelling Bee?
The purpose of our spelling bee contest is to cultivate students’ ability to spell words, exercise them spell words, and enhance their self-confidence based on mastering more words.
The National Spelling Bee is held annually in the United States. This competition first took place in Louisville, Ky., in 1925. It hosted just nine participants in its first year, and has since grown exponentially to include a very competitive and diverse group of young American students. This past year, over 11 million students competed for the coveted title of “National Spelling Bee Champion.” The competition has served as an inspiration to many countries across the world to begin their own National English language spelling competitions. Some of these countries include Canada, Armenia, China, and several countries in Western Europe.
Practice suggestion
Students are suggested to practice 15 to 30 minutes a day. It is up to the teacher and the student to decide which method is best for the contestant. Every student may not have the opportunity to practice spelling loudly in a classroom. Therefore, students should practice out loud at home, and they can quietly write spelled word exercises at school.
